 Jared Seymour

Jared Seymour was born and raised in beautiful Biloxi, MS. The Seymour family name is one of the oldest here on the gulf coast and that heritage is something that is very important to him. He’s a graduate of St. Martin High School, William Carey University with a Bachelors of Science in Nursing and Masters of Nursing Education, and The University of Southern Mississippi with a Doctorate of Nurse Anesthesia. Although he has a strong presence in healthcare, broadcasting and multimedia has always been a passion. He knew he wanted to utilize the power of social media to promote the area and the amazing people in the community. If there is one thing that stands out about Jared, it’s that he never meets a stranger. He loves getting to know people and talking about two of his favorite things, the gulf coast and bourbon. Those two things alone inspired the name of the podcast “Brown Water Banter”. He spends his spare time enjoying the Gulf of Mexico with his wife, Heather, and their two sons, Jaden and Jackson.

Joey Cates

Born and raised on the Mississippi Gulf Coast, Joey has a passion for everything involving the water. He has spent most of his life fishing, crabbing, and throwing a cast net off a pier on the Biloxi Back Bay. This passion led him to want to promote the Gulf Coast area and show the world what makes it the best. What better way to do this than with a podcast that allows him to incorporate two of his favorite things: conversations with people and the waters of the Gulf of Mexico.

Joey is a 2001 graduate of St. Martin High School and graduate of MGCCC. He has been with the Harrison County School District for 17 years as a computer technician and now as the computer science teacher at D’Iberville High School. Joey continues to deepen his coastal roots with his wife Heather and their two daughters, Avery and Ella. When he isn’t coaching, teaching or coming to you live, he’s on the water with his family soaking in every breeze, wave, and sound of the gulf. A little bit of brown water mixed with a lot of character is what you will get from Joey on each episode of Brown Water Banter.
